I reluctantly allowed the kitten on the bed, where this close-up shows how bad his eye looks.

I had to take him back to the doctor because he was depressed and barely eating, and throwing up what he ate.
The medicine helped. A lot.

By evening, after receiving the first dose of the medicine, Inkwell started enjoying the house even more. Including finding a box to play in.

He improved rapidly, still scared of the toys, but finding the furniture fun to play on.

After a hard night of playing, he settled on my arm, finally acting like a real kitten instead of an old cat.
With renewed health came scratching problems, so co-workers helped out...

The press uses huge rolls of paper, and we got the center of one and nailed it to a board. I took it home with the paper still on it.

I went to a local flooring place and got a few scraps of carpet, and wound one around the scratching post.

Eric attempted to show Inky how to use the scratching post. Inkwell was unimpressed.
I later managed to teach the kitten what it was by putting treats on it.

Inkwell, feeling better, still likes to curl up on whatever handy human is around, even if that human is working on a computer.

He did a close-up, but his eye is way better than it looks in this picture.

The kitten discovered the paper I removed from the redneck scratching post we made, and decided it was more fun than the post.

He wandered over the paper a bit, then figured out it moved!

He soon figured out how to get under it and make kitten caves.

And that was the last we saw of him for awhile.

I got Inkwell a Bergan Turbo Scratcher, and he's half enjoyed it.
He loves batting the ball around, but hasn't figured out that the pad is a scratching pad yet.

If he figures out that the pad is for scratching, it'll easily be worth the price.

As it is, it's almost worth the price to hear him batting the ball around and around.
